









Des Fleming
Des arrived in Melbourne six years ago for a holiday and has been finding reasons to stay ever since, Catalpa is the latest. A native of Cork City, Ireland, Des trained at the Gaiety School of Acting, Dublin.
Upon graduating he appeared in Theatreworks highly acclaimed production of Anna Karenina at The Samuel Beckett Centre. Other theatre work includes Elephant #2 (10 ELEPHANTS); King Lear (Second Age); Wild Harvest (Fada Theatre Co.); The Passion of Jerome (National Theatre of Ireland); Cult Movie (Project Arts Centre); A Wilde Night (IORC); Orpheus in the Underworld and Gubu 2 (Opera House, Cork) and Juno and the Paycock (Feedback Theatre Co.). In Melbourne he has performed in Eureka-The Musical at Her Majesty’s Theatre.
Film and television roles include starring as Pete Maguire in the BAFTA award winning comedy series Custer’s Last Stand Up for the BBC. Lead roles in the short films An Tiaracht, the Church of Acceptance and Me Tarzan, You Jane. He has had guest roles in Fair City (RTE), Blue Heelers (Ch.7), and MDA (ABC) and the feature film Laws of Attraction. Most recently he has appeared in the movie Dying Breed, and All Saints for Channel 7.
ITCH Productions presentation of Catalpa is Des' first venture as a producer and offers plenty of new challenges, however he is no stranger to the production side of the industry. Before turning his focus to performing he spent six years working as a stage manager, most notably at the Royal Albert Hall and Glyndebourne Festival Opera.
